Birchbox Summer 2019 – Part 2

And so the journey continues… In this post I’ll be talking about the five remaining products I’ve received in my Summer Birchbox.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, make sure you check out part 1 of this Summer Birchbox review where I talk about the other six products. That’s right, eleven products in total for this Birchbox since they added a nice little extra treat in especially for Summer!

The first product in this second part of the review is actually a haircare product. If you know me, you’ll know that I’m not too big on haircare since my hair only goes one way: very sleek and hanging next to my face. The product I got to test out is the Love beauty and planet – Coconut Oil & Ylang Ylang hope and repair shampoo.

Impressions: Whew, that was a mouthful. First of all, this product is vegan so all of you vegan people out there can enjoy it as well! One thing that immediately caught my eye is the ‘ylang ylang’. I know a lot of products from LUSH have this ingredient in them and I love using those products.

Even though this shampoo contains coconut oil, which is obviously meant to nourish your hair, it doesn’t really smell like coconut at all to me. It smells very natural and more floral, which is probably because of the ylang ylang.

This shampoo made my hair feel super soft and it stayed that way as well over the next two days. It is also supposed to protect the ends of your hair which is exactly what I need.

Do your legs tend to get super dry during Summer? Then the Baïja – French Pompon Body Cream might just be a product for you.

Impressions: I LOVED the very cute pink colour of this cream, especially since I didn’t expect it. The scent is also to die for. The packaging lists it as ‘rose lychee’ and that is exactly what is smells like. A mixture of roses and lychee.

A lot of natural moisturising ingredients are combined into this lovely cream, but I do feel if you tend to get extremely dry legs and arms like I do, you might need to apply this every single day.

Applying body creams during hot Summer months is also a dreaded chore for me since I don’t like that sticky feeling. However, this body cream absorbed very nicely and didn’t leave any stickyness after applying which made it very suitable for Summer.

The third product for today are the BACHCA – Double sides nail files. I’m not too bothered with manicures so nail files aren’t typically a product I use often but I decided to use these anyway for review purposes.

Impressions: What’s great about these little nail files is their size. You can easily put one in your handbag and take it with you wherever you go. I tend to break little corners or edges off my nails sometimes and then these will definitely come in handy.

As I said, these nail files are double sided. The gold side is a bit more rough to really shape you nails. The white side is more gentle and is used to smoothen your nails after shaping them.

As with most nail files they do what they are supposed to do. The rough side also isn’t too harsh in my opinion. For emergencies, I did put one of these two in my handbag! 🙂

The fourth product for today is the ModelCo – Highlighting Shimmer Whip. Normally I only use powder highlighters but this one looks so beautiful that I gave it a go.

Impressions: Testing out new makeup might not be the best idea right before you have to go outside and meet up with someone. However, that is exactly what I did and I did not regret it.

At first I was a bit scared of a liquid highlighter, which is probably why I never bought one in the first place. This little tube changed my mind for good.

It was SOOOOO easy to apply and you couldn’t really see a ‘line’ of highlighter like I expected to see. I blended it out a little bit with a beauty blender and it gave a natural, summery bronze highlight that looked stunning! I’m sold.

This last product for the Summer Birchbox is one that I had tried before getting it in my box. It is the Vitamasques – Diamond Eye Brighten & De-Puff.

Impressions: Ever since I first bought these I have loved them. They also have these in a gold variation.

Since I’m actually going to do a full review on these eye patches in a separate post I won’t go into details here except for saying that I really enjoy using these.

That was all for the Summer Birchbox of 2019! I actually really enjoyed using all of these products during those hot months.

I even got an email saying I can pick up my September Birchbox and I can’t wait to see what they selected for me this month.

Wish you the best,
